There is probably a hundred different variations on cold macaroni salad recipes. This one is a very simple macaroni salad that you can experiment with until it’s perfect. Make it normal the first time, alright?

Cold Macaroni Salad Ingredients

You’ll need some macaroni, which may or may not be a huge surprise.

You’ll also want:

  • A couple celery stalks
  • Onion
  • Eggs
  • Mayonnaise or Miracle Whip

To round out the flavor you’ll also need sugar, vinegar, a bit of mustard, and salt and pepper.

Cold Macaroni Salad Preparation

First things first, cook up about two cups of macaroni. Be sure to cook your pasta properly.

Hard-boil two to three eggs.

Once you’ve got the eggs and pasta all cooked up, you’ll need to start chopping. Chop your eggs into small cubes. Also, chop half an onion and two or three celery stalks into tiny little bits.

Now, you just have to mix everything together. Throw your pasta, eggs, onion and celery into a large bowl. Now add between a third to half a cup of mayonnaise, and a tablespoon of both sugar and vinegar. Next, throw in a teaspoon of any plain yellow mustard.

Salt and pepper to taste.

Refrigerate the whole thing for several hours and you have cold macaroni salad.

Tips for Next Time

Too much mayonnaise? Next time add less. Not enough mayonnaise? Next time add more.

Take it to a picnic with some tuna salad and crackers and be the cold salad bringer person. Everyone loves cold salad at picnics.

Add bacon. Always add bacon. You can even make a bacon weave and use it as a wrap for macaroni salad. Be the best picnic host ever.
